Our annual cross channel cruise is a must do rally for those wishing to gain experience of crossing the channel. Events in Cherbourg mean we've changed our plan and are going to Guernsey. For sail boats we have booked a Friday night in Yarmouth as this is a great start point and the tide gate at the Needles is early morning. It is also close to the longest day so there is approx 15 hours of daylight.
This rally is designed for both Power and Sail, but we can't control the weather. Indiviual skippers will make decisions 'on the day' depending on their boat, crew and weather conditions.
Club bookings
For those who wish to continue their voyage onwards to France or other Channel Islands, St Peter Port is an excellent stopping point to break the journey and opens the gateway to the delights Brittany and western France. Rally Leaders - Derek & Julie Kalinski on Astrid are heading further South with the option for an extended cruise to Brittany.

St Peter Port
It is 105 Nm from Port Solent to St Peter Port, breaks in the journey are naturally at Yarmouth, Alderney (Yar to Alderney 66Nm) or alternatively Cherbourg (Yar to Cherbourg 66Nm).
Lying approximately 20 miles off the coast of France, the British isle of Guernsey is the oldest settlement in the Channel Islands and its capital, St Peter Port, is full of character. Cobbled lanes, originating at the boat-filled harbour, snake upwards through the town, while the 800 year-old Castle Cornet looks down overhead. Year-round, wild plants flourish in Guernsey’s mild climate and visitors will note the overwhelmingly European feel of this exceedingly picturesque port.
