A view from Jango:

After a couple of pre-Rally days in Yarmouth during which we enjoyed the delights of Yarmouth Town, a visit to the ever-windy Needles Batteries and a ride on the Chair Lift to Alum Beach (all thoroughly recommended), Friday morning saw us hoisting the Club Bunting in anticipation of the arrival of the first cohort of intrepid PSYC Sail and Power Fleets.

At 6pm “High Time”; “Old Possum”; “Happy Place”; “Les Arks” and (just in time) “Sea Air”, all joined Jango for pontoon drinks, quaffed deeply in true BYO tradition, and munched happily through the nuts & nibbles so thoughtfully provided by “Admiral” Karen.

Skippers and crews partook lustily and in excellent humour despite the rather chilly wind which eventually sent them back to their cabins to continue their yarning.

We were pleased to welcome first-time PSYC Rallyists Paula & Chris Reynolds (Old Possum) and new member Alan Rogers (Les Arks) and hope they enjoyed our company as much as we did theirs.

Sadly, we had to leave early the next day so having de-flowered Jango and bundled up the bunting for onward delivery we departed in sunshine with tide and wind carrying us back to PS in just 3 hours.

Our thanks go to the helpful and charming Harbour staff and berthing masters who managed to find us all berths without rafting and who dubbed Jango “The Party Boat” – can’t imagine why……

The view from Nicknack:

We were lucky as we only had a slow drift from Lymington to join the Yarmouth rally, meeting up with those already there since Friday. A lazy afternoon was had by most, some walking along the river path and back, some catching up with members already berthed and the remainder just chilling.

Unfortunately, Nigel and Debbie were not able to join us so we had drinks by “nicknack” which fortunately turned out to be the warmest, sunniest part of an otherwise dull day. Then on to The Bugle, where we had a very jolly evening and the food was good too!

Most members left between 9am and 10am on Sunday morning - not much wind so everyone had to motor at some point!

Thank you to all who were with us on Saturday, Happy Place, High Time, Sea Air, Shoogly Monster, Old Possum, and our new members on Diamond Time.

Nick and Gail (Nicknack)

Thanks to both hosts for stepping in to the rally leader role.

Have fun and stay safe
