Nine sail boats, one motor boat and two motorists arrived in Chichester for the bank holiday rally. We enjoyed pizzas in the evening sunshine as a novel addition to rally drinks, adjacent to M pontoon. Tables and chairs were assembled and 14 pizzas were collected and thoroughly enjoyed by all! Evening gatherings on boats led to merry bands of sailors staggering back to their boats in the dark ready to sleep it off.
Saturday dawned bright and sunny for our walk to Itchenor, starting at the CYC car park at 11am, with a stop off for coffees at the Scuttlebutt Cafe in Birdham. The sun and wind had done their job so the path was reasonably dry, with a couple of squishy exceptions. Everyone enjoyed a cafe break in Itchenor and a chance to rest their legs before the return trip to Chichester marina. Saturday evening dinner was attended by everyone. It was very well organised by CYC, with a welcome message at the front door and a greeting from the functions manager. Upfront payment for the food on arrival, with the first drink, worked well; something to remember for future events there. More nocturnal gatherings ….
Sunday promised a little rain, which it delivered on the very well attended walk to Chichester, along the canal path. Seventeen people sat down for Sunday lunch in the Crate and Apple, who looked after us well. Some of us wandered back along the canal, others took the bus. All arrived safely and in good time for a farewell drink in the CYC bar.
Thanks to all who attended and made it such an enjoyable weekend:
