We woke up on Friday to a very blowy morning, gusting up to 28 knots as we left Portsmouth harbour shortly after lunch. However, PSYC members are an intrepid lot and not one of the 20 boats was deterred from coming. It did make for some interesting berthing in Bembridge, but the harbour staff, as usual were very helpful, and although some of the boats were doing their own merry dances in the wind they were eventually all moored safely alongside without mishap.
In the evening, it was too blowy and cold for byo pontoon drinks and nibbles, so these were served on board Astrid with the aid of Deja Vu and Ventus who were moored beside us.
During the daytime on Saturday everyone did their own thing, some people went walking and they all seemed to go in different directions, but all ended back at Duver ready for the evening celebrations.
In the spirit of the evening, everyone had donned Wild West gear, (thank you), Rum punch was served, was very well received and put everyone in the mood for some line dancing, even the horse joined in. Despite the attempted bribery, the judge (Julie) was not swayed in her decision and Nigel (alias Bullseye and rider) from Mouse Too, and Caroline from Adriana as a Cowgirl duly won the “Best Wild West Costume” prizes. After that we all enjoyed our bbq feasts before more dancing was enjoyed to round off the evening.
All we have to do now is to think of another theme for next year… Happy days
Julie and Derek
