Mid-week Rally to Lymington 19th - 21st April 2023
Three boats (Saskia, Thomas Hardy and Pikorua) braved the wind to meet at Lymington Town Quay, where the harbourmaster’s team (VHF Ch 66) provided a friendly greeting and were immediately on hand to take our lines and help with berthing. The walk ashore pontoons have power and are very close to the refurbished visitors’ facilities which are now of a good standard.
It is a very short walk from the quay to Lymington’s main street making it a pleasant afternoon stroll.
After drinks and an excellent three course meal (one course per boat) on board Saskia, much merriment was had throughout the evening and cards were played and some cheating too !
Thursday dawned and the sun shone all day. Four trekked across the marshes to Keyhaven. On the way we spied a pair of Bar Tailed Godwitts, Egrets, Herons and even a group of wild ponies !
Lunch at the Gun inn was delightful in the sheltered garden and sustained us for the walk back to Lymington.
The King’s Head provided a fine meal to round off a very enjoyable rally.
