15 Boats & 33 Crew

For many this was the first-time boat engines and sails were used for a number of months.  The Lockdown started pre-Christmas was beginning to be eased.  This was the first weekend for Shepard’s Marina to welcome overnight stay. Speaking with the Shepard team they were pleased to be back in action.  As always, the team are excellent and great to deal with, easy to work with pre meeting and on the day of arrival their team was there to greet us all and assist in docking.

A great turn out of 15 boats,  10 power 5 sail. We may have been in the gloom of lockdown for several months. The sun gods welcomed us with blue skies and low winds.  It was great to see so many smiles of people finally talking to friends (social distancing rules applied) they haven’t seen for months.

Saturday drinks on the pontoon was a noisy affair spread out (Covid rules observed) catching up of months of chit chat,  what issues with the boat as it hasn’t been used.  A great atmosphere, great to be part of it.

The Saturday evening meal was a challenge and difficult to arrange, many places were not open to make arrangements or didn’t have the capacity to support us.  The Basque Kitchen came to our rescue with their outside dinning area. Located by the entrance of the marina it provide great food.  Highly recommended anytime you visit Shepard’s.

Sunday morning came a little to quickly.  I am sure many wanted the weekend to continue for much longer.  As if by fate the wind wasn’t helping the sail boats which had to return under motor.  With blues skies and sunshine.

Thank you all for coming and making it a great event,  keep safe.
