Yarmouth mid-week & rally

The weather had looked good for those boats able to attend the Yarmouth mid-week rally on Thursday. It was all change for those arriving for the Saturday rally, but it was an enjoyable occasion despite the unkind weather. Some who had come early regretted not packing suitable clothes for a 15 degree drop in temperature!
A total of 11 boats attended the Saturday rally, including those who decided to combine the mid-week and weekend events. Those arriving on Saturday arrived in dribs and drabs in the drippy, drabby weather. The crews were more in need of a hot drink than a gin and tonic, once they had finally moored up. Yarmouth Harbour rafted us up to 4 boats deep in a disordered fashion on the south side of yellow pontoon.
A few intrepid souls decided to brave the storms and went walking along the River Yar or around the headland. Hopes of taking the dingy or paddle board up the river to the Red Lion pub were put on the back boiler for a later date.
In slightly better weather, a number of crews gathered on swim platforms or within cockpits for socially distanced pre-dinner drinks. After a briefing from Steve, the crews managed a staggered arrival in table order at La Cucina restaurant for a set menu. The service at La Cucina was excellent and at the end of the meal, we were served a small glass of Limoncello to complement the drinks already consumed. After a very pleasant evening in a private dining room, the crews managed an even more staggered return to the boats.
The disordered rafting meant that some boats were forced to make an earlier departure than originally planned but with the poor weather, there were no complaints at having to drip home or to their next destination slightly early.
