Chichester Rally Report
All was on track for the final rally of the season: then I read the recent restaurant reviews - I'm not eating there I told Mike and conferred with other committee members
Saskia was on the cross-channel rally, ready to depart St Peter Port on a beautiful day for a channel crossing.
Rear Commodore Sail, Nick, came up with an alternative plan. Why not go to Chichester, their Yacht Club is celebrating the Last Night at the Proms, we could join them for drinks after dinner, and have dinner at the Boathouse restaurant at Chichester Marina. A Good Plan.
A lovely day dawned in mid-September and 8 boats headed off to Chichester, with 18 members, guests and a dog. Premier managed to moor us in a similar area of the marina and it was great to meet old and new friends
Last night at the proms and sunshine means decorate with bunting, eat nibbles, drink Pimms, wave union flags and dress in red white and blue. The social space in our new boat worked well.
After Pimms and conversation we found our table in the boathouse. We were focused on the food, so no photos but it was delicious.
Then off to the Yacht club, with Union flags to wave, we celebrated last night and stood for the national anthem, and possibly consumed a further drink or two! Note to self, song sheets are required if we have to sing the second verse!
The next day dawned warm and sunny and, in retrospect, we all wished we’d stayed another day as Island Sprit had sensibly decided. The queue to get out of the lock lasted over 2 hours and the route out of the harbour resembled dodgems at the fun-fare! Shouts of never again coming out of Chichester on a sunny Sunday/Bank Holiday Monday.
Bring on the 2020 rally program, oh its not starting til June… Different reason Same effect! Stay safe until we can get back on the water.
